For easy linkage, the related tables have been placed opposite to the maps. The household and population figures related to 2011 Population and Housing Census and mauza or mahallah areas have been given on the basis of the latest estimates. In some cases mauza area need to be estimated directly from maps with the help of GIS technology. In addition to mauzas, the Atlas provides separate maps for each of the paurashava located in the zila. The paurashava maps show the boundaries of the paurashava and location of wards and mahallahs within each paurashava. Thus, by totaling the mauza and paurashava areas, it is possible to arrive at the total area of the zila and hence the total area of Bangladesh.
