The twin villages of Wari-Bateshwar, situated on the right bank of the Old Brahmaputra, in the Narasingdi district of Bangladesh, are known for many decades for surface finds of silver punch-marked coins, semi-precious stone beads, iron slag, pottery etc. The present volume contains the results of the maiden excavation for one season in 2000 undertaken by the International Centre for Study of Bengal Art. Diagnostic potteries such as NBWP, Rouletted Ware and Knobbed Ware were found. Also proved was the existence of a factory site of the semi-precious stone beads. The geo-location of Wari-Bateshwar, inevitably indicates to Southeast Asiatic and Roman contacts.
