History as a discipline is always challenging, and at time elusive, as the thin line dividing fact and fiction and substance and shadow becomes hazy at a distance of time. Besides, writing history in this country has sometimes been problematized by partisanism and a lack of objectivity. Bangladesh: Six Decades makes an attempt to correct these falsifications, but doesn't aspire to be a history of the six eventful decades per se; it is rather an objective account of the events that shaped the destiny of a whole nation as precisely as possible. Bangladesh: Six Decades attempts modestly to recount the facts and investigate the issues that have engaged every Bengalee since the partition of the subcontinent in 1947.
