Folk Songs from Feminist Perspective: Bhawaiya, Biyer Geet and Palagan is a research work which aims at analysing folk songs such as, bhawaiya, biyer geet, and palagan from feminist viewpoints. Through various interpretations or reinter pretations of the folk songs, it paints a dismal picture of women discrimination in the male dominated rural societies of the northern part of Bangladesh. Though the book emerged from an extensive doctoral research carried out by the author, who was later awarded a PhD degree in 2013 for it by the University of Rajshahi, it has been presented to reach the required standard as a full-scale book. It shows the myriad trajectories of women exploitation, seeks to explore the reasons for it, and suggests the recipe for emancipation. It deals with a very important academic discourse and at the same time becomes an interesting read.
