The book is an attempt to capture in words and pictures the magnificence of the festivals of Bangladesh-both religious and secular. The texts in this book give the origin and developments of the festivals while the photographs reveal their splendor and grandeur and the setting in which these take place. The secular festivals are, naturally, the meeting points of people belonging to all religious persuasions and these express their worldly hopes and aspirations. Most of the religious festivals, at the same time, transcend the confines of the community and people of all religions flock in to enjoy the festivities.
