The book covers the research results obtained in the Tibetan Himalayas. Using the results, we hope to advance disease prevention, health, and quality of life (QQL) of the highlanders. At the same time, we would like to re-examine our own current lifestyles, rethink the way the modern civilization ought to be, and be able to suggest a possibility of future for life, aging, disease, and death. The future challenge is to compare the different hypoxic adaptations in highlands around the world and create a universal highland model by discussing the case studies in the context of evolution, civilization, and globalization.
